Pasha Stevedoring & Terminals Wins Top PMA Safety Awards

At the recent PMA Southern California 57th Annual Safety Awards Banquets that recognized safety in the workplace for 2005, Pasha Stevedoring & Terminals Los Angeles/Long Beach won 1st Place Group A Stevedore Lowest Injury Rate – for the Coast level and the Southern California Area. PST LA/LB also received the award for the Greatest Reduction in Injury Rate - Southern California area.
In San Diego, PST received 1st Place Group B Stevedore Lowest Injury Rate- Southern California and 2nd Place Group B Stevedore Lowest Injury Rate-Coast Level.
Ken Keane, PST maritime safety & security director, acknowledged the dedicated efforts of management and labor, working together as a team.
"This is a remarkable achievement," Keane said. "Credit first goes to the ILWU labor force of longshore, mechanics, and marine clerks, for paying close attention to what is going on all around them at all times and working safely. I also want to recognize the foremen and superintendents who are the safety managers on site and who ensure the work is done efficiently and safely."
